Bold Type Agency is a boutique agency specialising in negotiating international rights sales and book-to-screen options on behalf of Australian literary agents and publishers.

Bold Type Agency bridges the gap between the expertise of literary agents and publishers, focusing on global markets and leveraging Nerrilee’s proven track record to secure international deals for our clients and their authors.

Director Nerrilee Weir is an industry leader in selling rights, having secured thousands of rights deals over nearly 30 years in the publishing industry. 

During her 24 years at Penguin Random House Australia, Nerrilee was responsible for selling rights in both the adult and children’s lists in all markets outside of Australia and New Zealand, including English language rights sales (North America and the United Kingdom), translation rights sales, and film and television.

Nerrilee is involved in the process from the initial pitch through to negotiation of offers and finalising of contracts.

A veteran of more than 50 book fairs including Frankfurt, London, Bologna, Taipei and Guadalajara, Nerrilee has also undertaken sales trips to specific markets in North America, Europe and Asia.

Sought after for her international market expertise, Nerrilee has presented seminars for the Australian Publishers Association, the Australian Society of Authors, the University of Sydney and the Canadian Publishers Association. She has also participated in or chaired panels at international book fairs and for Creative Australia’s Visiting International Publishers program.
